Research and Information Fluency

Students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information.

Students:
  • plan strategies to guide inquiry.
  • locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and ethically use information from a variety of sources and media.
  • evaluate and select information sources and digital tools based on the appropriateness to specific tasks.
  • process data and report results.

South Carolina Standards also require students to research and report on topics.

For example:
Standard 6-6.1: Clarify and refine a research topic.
Standard 6-6.7: Use a variety of print and electronic reference materials.
Standard 6-6.8: Design and carry out research projects by selecting a topic, constructing inquiry questions, accessing resources, and organizing information.
